Hi forum first time posting

I am and A/C guy and need help with my Personell house plumbing, had a slab leak a couple of days ago and called in a plumber. He was a little younger but like he knew what he was talking about. Now here comes the issue he assumede that my water service comes through the concrete of my backyard into my house to a manifold that distributes the lines through my house. When he went to open holes to look for the manifold it was nowhere to be found according to him. Now I trust him somewhat and started to think that mabye the year of the house will affect if three would be a manifold or not was it code or common practice during the 60's to do that. Any help or insight would be great it would ease my mind on the bill he is charging me

Thank you

the manifolds should be in the wall. and the pipe feeding the manifold will be under the slab.

usually code says no joints under a slab.

i dont know what code your under, have no idea what part of the country you are in

the first thing i would have done , before breaking concrete. not knowing where the plumbing is

would be to open a wall behind a sink..and see a manifold.

back in the 60's. they used black poly to sleeve the copper thru the slab.
if a framing nail has punctured the copper .it could be leaking down the sleeve

i dunno,,its a guessing

is the leak hot water or cold water? if its hot, turn off the water heater, and close the ball valve

least you will have cold water to flush with

It's possible that the system was built with out manifolds and they used tees and fitting under the slab.

can you make a rough sketch of your floor plan w/ location of fixtures, water heater and main water service. Single story or 2?

Depending on where the water starts they roll pipe to minimize cost. usually from cold main to water heater then on to other locations. If no manifolds ,you have 2 option Jackhammer and fix the leak in floor or repipe the whole house.

If you can find manifolds then you only need to repipe the one that is leaking.

Sorry for the late responses been busy with work but the plumber did most of the work and then found the manifold. They brought the manifold all the way to the wall that my restroom shares with my kitchen not on the exterior where he thought it was. But It is highly possible the long that is leaky is the supply like going to the main idols cause that is where the water was comming from.
