laundry sink trap utility

I want to replace my basic laundry sink faucet (has separate hot & cold taps) with a one piece kitchen faucet that has a pull down sprayer. The existing faucet has a built in connection for a trap primer (I'm in Canada) and it has a plastic tube connected to it that runs down into the basement...

So the other day I clumsily dropped something down our laundry room sink. I thought no biggie, I'll just remove the trap and dump it out. Removed the nuts from the p-trap which were hard to turn because it's 30 yrs old with some corrosion. To my chagrin, the thing I dropped wasn't there, but...
