hot water radiator

Hi, Looking for some advice on repacking a valve stem on a hot water radiator. I have tried tightening the gland nut a few times, and there is still a slow seep of water. I purchased graphite cord to repack the valve, and I understand that I would just take the gland nut off and wrap it around...
