There is a little more to it then just that. By chance have you heard of and or tried any of those special designed mouth pieces for sleep apnea? Some of them are reasonably priced with a free 90 day money back guarantee. In a nut shell, they hold your bottom jaw forward when you sleep to help keep your airway open.
For me, my wife says I do not snore unless I’m on my back. I’m not speaking for anyone else here.

If I sleep on my side there’s no problems.

Understandably everyone is different and unique when it comes to their body and health. Studies have shown up to 20% of people who don't snore have sleep apnea. Snoring is a natural response to low oxygen levels and reduced airflow. A score of 30 or more events per hour is considered severe sleep apnea.

Quality sleep is a huge factor when it comes to your overall health. Several studies have also shown an association between sleep apnea and problems like type 2 diabetes, strokes, heart attacks and even a shortened lifespan.

Even though a person can do a sleep study from their home, the most accurate way is to go into their facility and they can more carefully monitor your breathing and sleep pattern.

It's recommended that people with sleep apnea try to sleep on their side over their back. When you sleep on your back, your throat and neck muscles relax and reduce your airway. It's also recommended not to take any type of sleep medication because this will really relax your muscles and make your sleep apnea even worse.

Unlike myself, if a person can tolerate the CPAP face mask, it's been proven to be the best treatment to date for anyone with sleep apnea.

I ordered a water leak detector to go under my dishwasher (thus it will never leak again) but it is a rope type made by yolink. I tried setting it up and testing it a bit, the rope senses very well, just putting a moist napkin on it will set it off. It beeps at the unit, but it connects to a hub that will talk to you, and you can enable a siren that sounds like the old original star trek siren.. it would for sure wake you up if your sleeping. Happy with it as a new purchase. Time will tell. You can hook all kinds of other sensors to the hub if you want.

I think without the cpap I snore no matter what position I'm in. I'll wake myself up, so it must be bad.
What I wouldn't give for one night of restful sleep, I have sleep apnea really bad. When I tried the machine it was a struggle from day one. When the CPAP machine would ramp up to full air flow. I swear you could fill a truck tire with that kind of air pressure. I wouldn't wish sleep apnea on anyone.

When I first started, the air would fill my lungs, I dont know if I ever took in that much air . It became like a drug.. I was addicted to it. Couldn't wait to use it. Then I slowly just got used to it, just became normal.

Before I had my sleep study done, I had talked with a hand full of much older people then myself who have used the CPAP machine for years. They all could not say enough good about the machine and how rested they felt when they woke up the next morning. I was pretty excited in thinking and hoping this machine was going to do the same for me.

Unfortunately after a month of struggling with it and trying so many different things hoping to try and make it more user friendly, it just wasn't happening for me. After looking at my recorded sleep data, there was no real noticeable and significance benefits so I couldn't justify struggling with it every night because I wasn't receiving any quality sleep anyway.

Then I had contacted a few of the people I had chatted with prior to my starting the treatment, to only realize my sleep apnea was much much worse then theirs. I even checked into that Inspire device and was told my numbers were to high for that to even be an effective treatment.

So then I stated having heart issues with Afib, so that put my sleep apnea issues on the back burner for the time being. How I love getting old! LOL

Now getting old with all of its troubles is a whole other conversation. But I agree getting old sucks. I'm still at rhe point where " my head says I can do that , but my body says.. I don't think so" or if I do actually do some things that require some effort ( chain sawing a tree ) it takes a week for my body to recover. I can still, geterdone , but I am gonna pay for it.

I feel your pain brother! You can take the old dog out of the hunt! But you can't take the hunt out of the old dog! LOL

My brother had asthma as a kid and has COPD now. He's been snoring since he was a kid no matter what position he was in and even before he got fat.
Mom still snores even with her CPAP on. My brother's only complaint about the cpap was that it left his mouth dry. I told him some cpaps let you add distilled water so it's not so dry. I think that also means his mouth fell open so he might need a chin strap. My mother is a back sleeper. Bro and I are side sleepers. I've been told I snored when sleeping on my friend's couch when we had to evacuate there after a hurricane. I probably have sleep apnea but don't have insurance so can't get the sleep study or a cpap. They won't even take you as a patient at this place unless you have insurance.

Today I slept until 4pm and still don't feel rested. At least I'm not feeling as sore as I was yesterday. Getting old definitely does suck. Body aches, bladder not cooperating, pins & needles sensation in my arm/hand when I try to do anything.

My friend said his extra wide debris dustpan magically appeared at his new house after being missing for over a year. Pretty sure his Mom took it without asking and only recently returned it. She does that a lot-- although often does not return stuff. She gets paid under the table to clean people's houses, clean churches, do yardwork, etc. She feels it entitles her to take whatever she wants and then sell it, give it away, or hoard it all over the place (her offsprings' homes, her trailer, friend's house, etc).

Friend said the grandfather has rolled by numerous times but hasn't laid on the horn yet. I say "yet" because I'm sure he will at some point. He offered a dining table with 8 chairs but I know it comes with strings attached. That man doesn't do or give anything without wanting something in return or to be able to use it as leverage. Friend was interested in taking it but the wife doesn't want him using it as an excuse to worm his way inside the house. Even though the old man still owes him $30k (which he refused to acknowledge owing him a dime) for the grandma's funeral, car parts, an hvac system, phone bills, and all sorts of stuff over the years, the old man acts like my friend owes him. He even tells people my friend owes him money when its the other way around.

I'm trying to motivate myself to get up if I can convince the cats to get off me.
