I have a Kohler urinal I'm trying to install and am having problems installing the spud for the flush valve. The hole in the top measures 1-5/8". I have is a 1-1/2" x 3/4"" spud. it will not tighten down without bottoming out and pops out. I do not see one bigger available. What size do I need? Should it support the weight of the valve without mounting the pipe for support? I'm also having trouble getting the nut to hold the 3/4"tube for the valve. Came with a blue seal and fiber washer. Bottoms out before it's tight. any help would be appreciated.

There should be a vaccum breaker at the top of the tail price were it threads into the flush
This is what I have. Standard Urinal Spud for .75" Vacuum Breaker Tube | KullySupply.com Says it’s for a 1-5/8” porcelain hole and a 3/4” vacuum tube which is what I have. Like I said both are loose and will not tight enough.
I would buy kohler parts for the spud sometimes those generic parts can be just a little off

Are you using something to hold the spud in place while you tighten down on it you can cut slots on a 1/2 " ips nipple
Then you can hold back on it
Have you compared the spud you took out and your new one ?????

I do not have the original spud. I picked this up a few year ago to install in my shop. I do have a spud wrench I borrowed. Problem is I tighten it all the way until it bottoms out on its self. It snugs down but not enough to grip the porcelain hole. Acts like it’s to small. Next size I see on line is 2”. Hole is 1-5/8”

This is the other problem I have. The 3/4” end of the vacuum breaker does not hold tight in the hole in the spud once tightened. The secs say it for a 3/4”, but hole measures 7/8”. I suspect I have the wrong spud, but specs say it’s correct. P/N for spud is 101071 from Kylly Supply. (See picture) . Neither end will fit properly. Porcelain end or vacuum tube end. Like I said hole in porcelain is 1-5/8” and vacuum tube is 3/4”. Any help on what spud, tube etc... I need?

It is very important the the spud and urinal are 100% dry , if there is any water it will act as a lub and it will slide out .

Tried that. They must be on limited staffing for COVID. Just put on hold for a long time.
Your options are try a kohler spud not an off brand or try your local supply houses me have probably hundreds of urinals on campus and we have I think 3 different spuds for different aged urinals the one you show is our most common we use koherl spuds

Last question. Should the siphon tube slide into the spud snuggly. Mines sloppy and does not supported itself even once the nut is tight. It’s about 1/16” smaller then the hole. The seal doesn’t hold it.

Yes there should be a chrome nut with a black rubber washer and a red friction washer use some food grade clear grease on the sofa threads and any were else there is a threaded connection that chrome nut and washer is sold in a package with the chrome escutcheon that covers the spud

I suspect I have the wrong spud. Not only is it loose before I tighten the nut, but it’s still loose and I can pull it out when tight. I have the rubber washer and fiber weather but they aren’t enough to hold/seal the tube. I’m going to my local pumping supply house today.

Can't go wrong with kohler parts, for you spur depending on you flushometer most common is sloan good luck

For urinals they make an 1-1/4x3/4 and 1x3/4. You may have the wrong one.

Hummm. I have a 1 1/2 x 3/4 spud. The hole in the top of the urinal measures 1 9/16. When tightens down it will not stay and pops out. Kinda of at a loss at this point.
