Removing a widespread bathroom sink faucet

As in the pictures shown here, the metal t does not allow the Kobalt tool to reach the nut. Basin wrench does not grip this nut either. Not enough space for a plumbers wrench either.
The faucet handle was loose and broken so need to replace with a new faucet but need help taking this thing out. 15+ year old faucet came with the house when it was built. Please help.

Loosen the nut on the underside. Push up and rotate escution counter clockwise, and everything should drop out.
 
Does the chrome escutcheon come off usually there is a big nut you can loosen and the whole assembly comes out
The chrome escutcheon is screwed onto the brass shank that is poking out above the sink and outside of the escutcheon is completely round. Should I just cut it out with a multi tool?
