I did some research over the weekend, pulling data for each state from Salary.com and found the average salary for entry-level plumbers in each state.

I posted what I found on the Breezeworks blog, take a look and tell me what you think: Average Plumbers Salaries in 2016

Those are not Union wages but it seems about right. 20 bucks an hour. I guess we should show this to customers that say i should have been a plumber after they receive the bill. The guy doing the work is not the reason for the high hourly rate.

Buddy of mine works for a plumbing outfit and they gave him a truck, tools and uniform and call him a plumber. He makes ten bucks an hour.

those are misleading as hell. it says entry level plumbers.

that means a 1st year plumber. not a 0 year apprentice.

it takes 4 years to be a entry level plumber

then, for plumbers their are 3 sets of wages...not 1

1 residential plumber $10-12 an hour,,,very cut throat , wages are low due to an influx of unskilled non english workers

2 commercial plumber $18---30 an hour, depends on experience

3 repair plumber I dont really know, these guys are shady and their eyes dart around like a rats,,,
I think they deserve more than they get, but i think they get to much sometimes

I heard the same thing from a few people about union wages. Would love to know if there was a tool to see the union average per state.

this is amazing insight. Is there a website I can learn more about the years of expereince and type of plumbers like your examples 1,2,3?

Is this common? What do they bill for his time?

no,,you have to be in the trade.

for your information..it takes years to be a plumber.

you can spend hours reading a book. a book will not install the product or tell you how to fix it.
only

experience willl.

i have worked with master plumbers who i would not trust to pick their own nose. and i have worked with helpers that were rocket scientests

it is all about experience

dude..here is the real story..to be a well rounded plumber, you need to apprentice under a well rounded plumber

by well rounded i mean he knows residential, commercial, and repair.

the way i apprenticed, i followed my master to 6 different companies as i was apprenticing

he was not going any where with out me. period.

it aint the books or the company, its the teacher

we made a deal..he would teach me plumbing i would get my license .

when i got my journeyman's, he would get his masters.

i got my journeyman's. and my masters,

then hired him to work for me as a foremen
